California Drought - Going on Year Three

California is going on year three of drought conditions. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, all of California is in the Moderate (D1) to Extreme Drought (D3) conditions. With the beautiful weather we are having more people will start their gardens, landscape their yards and start using their pools and spas.

Did you know that on March 28, 2022 the Governor of CA asked local water suppliers to move to Level 2 of their Water Shortage Contingency Plans and he also directed the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) to consider a ban on the watering of decorative grass at businesses and institutions? These actions were made in hopes to save several hundred thousand acre-feet of water. To understand what that means, an acre-foot of water serves approximately three households for one year.

What can you do to conserve water?

  1. Watch for and report water leaks.

  2. Minimize your water usage.
